  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 12 oz (375g) lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water (or beef broth)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup frozen chopped carrots
  • 12 1/2 oz (397g) package frozen puff pastry, thawed according to directions on package
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Heat oil in large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes or until softened. Add beef and cook, breaking up and larger pieces, for about 10 minutes or until browned. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.

Stir in water, ketchup, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, peas and carrots. Cook for 5 minutes or until thickened; cool.

Roll one half of pastry out onto lightly floured surface until it measures 12 inch (30cm) square. Cut 4 squares from pastry. Place one-eighth of ground beef mixture on one corner of one square. Fold over to form triangle. Press edges together. Place on greased baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pastry and ground beef mixture. Brush with egg. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
